Located at the east end of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome is one of the most recognized rock forms in the park. From May to October, hikers can climb to the top of the dome; it's a seventeen-mile hike, round-trip. During last portion of the grueling journey, hikers must pull themselves up the steep and slick slope of Half Dome using cables anchored in the granite.
